Deacon Recommends

I love technology and there are a number of tools that make my life so much awesomer.  Here are my favorites:

Evernote: Remember everything.  I would be lost without Evernote.  I use it heavily in both my business and my personal life.  It helps me keep track of idea brainstorms and which color paint I have on the walls all in one easy place.  Oh, and it syncs notes to your phone.  Fantastic!

WordPress: Hands down best blog/CMS platform out there.  If you’re thinking of making your own website I strongly recommend wordpress.org.  A hosted version of WordPress will cost you around $7/month.  Get out there and build your idea!

Things: This is an amazing ToDo program for Mac (only, sorry guys).  They found the perfect balance between functionality and weight.  Easy to use.  Powerful.  Awesome.  (PS, I don’t recommend the iPhone app)

Google Docs: Use this all day every day.  Because it’s hosted online I can always get to thedocs I need to.  I also heavily use their spreadsheets to keep things in sync between more then one person. You can have work flows here that were impossible  a couple years ago.

MailChimp: Awesome mailing list manager.  It’s now FREE for lists with under 1,000 subscribers.  I built the Foundations eCourse using their autoresponder feature and I can track how each campaign does.  This is feature packed and very professional (can’t believe it’s free!).

Jungle Disk: This is my favorite online backup tool out there.  It uses Amazon or Rackspace (your choice) as the backend disks to store your data which means YOU own the data.  I could cancel my Jungle Disk plan and all the backups would still be accessible and mine to keep.  It’s also super powerful and easy to use.

Dropbox: Everyone should be using this, it’s that good. Dropbox syncs your files between multiple computers.  You can work on the same files in multiple places and always have the latest version. It also keeps revision history in case you save a mistake or accidently delete a file.  Oh, and there’s even a public folder so you can share documents with friends just by sending them a link. The uses for this app are endless!

HostGator: Host unlimited domains cheaply and reliably.  Got more then one website idea?  No problem!  You’ll never outgrow your Hostgator account.  Use coupon code bedrockcoaching to get a $9.95 discount when signing up.
